The Gold of the Coast

The Campania region boasts an ancient culinary tradition made of typical products and authentic flavors.

Some of the products of the Sorrento and Amalfi Coast are famous worldwide for their uniqueness. Like the famous lemons from Sorrento and Amalfi, with their unique flavor and intense aroma, registered with the IGP mark - produced with a protected geographical indication, both are rich in Vitamin C and beneficial properties; they differ from each other in the different cultivation methods and different organoleptic properties.

The lemons of Sorrento have ancient origins, in the archaeological excavations of Pompeii and Herculaneum numerous paintings depicting oval-shaped lemons were found, in fact the lemons of Sorrento are also called "Ovale di Sorrento" or "Limone di Massa". They have an elliptical shape with medium-large dimensions and I think not less than 85 grams. The peel is a citrine yellow color rich in essential oils that give an unmistakable and intoxicating scent. They are grown under the "pagliarelle" or support poles that allow you to cover the plants from the cold, wind and delay ripening. The Sorrento lemon is cultivated in all the municipalities of the Sorrento Peninsula and precisely: Massa Lubrense, Meta, Piano di Sorrento, Sant’Agnello, Sorrento, Vico Equense, as well as on the island of Capri, with the two municipalities Capri and Anacapri.

The Limone Costa d’Amalfi, also has ancient origins, is called the "sfusato amalfitano", so named for its tapered shape. It has a light yellow color and medium-large dimensions with a weight of at least 100 grams. This variety is characterized by a thick and wrinkled skin with a juicy pulp and scarce presence of seeds, it grows exposed to the sun and to the cold winds thanks to the protection of the Lattari Mountains. The "Limone Costa d'Amalfi" PGI is present in all the municipalities of the Amalfi Coast: Amalfi, Cetara, Conca dei Marini, Furore, Maiori, Minori, Positano, Praiano, Ravello, Scala, Tramonti, Vietri sul Mare.
